NEW DELHI: The Indian Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls duo of Arjun Lal Jat (bow) and Arvind Singh (stroke) performed impressively in the 19th Asian Games, securing a spot in the Final A by winning the Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls repechage race.
They completed the race with a time of 6:55.78, maintaining their lead throughout. Japan finished second with a time of 7:05.91, while the Philippines came in third with a time of 7:10.97.
In the Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls event, Arjun and Arvind’s strong performance earned them a place in the Final A, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.
Additionally, another Indian duo, Satnam Singh (bow) and Parminder Singh, secured the top position in their event, the Double Skulls, with a time of 6:48.06. This victory earned them a spot in the final as well.
The rowing events at the Asian Games 2023 are being held at the Fuyang Water Sports Centre in Hangzhou from September 20 to 25. India is off to a promising start in rowing at the tournament.
In addition to rowing, both the Indian Men’s and Women’s football teams are set to compete, and the Indian Women’s cricket team has also begun their campaign at the Asian Games.
