Modi is made of different mettle, doesn’t take it easy: PM | India News – Times of India

BHARUCH: PM Modi said on Thursday that though an opposition leader once asked him whether being prime minister twice was not enough, he had no intention of letting up. He asserted that the opposition was unaware that he was of a “different mettle” and that he would work for the welfare of the poor with greater energy.
Addressing people in Gujarat’s Bharuch via a video link, PM Narendra Modi cited remarks of an unnamed opposition politician to stress that he (Modi) intended to keep serving the people.
“An opposition leader once met me as he was not happy over some issues. He told me that being PM twice is accomplishment enough and wondered what more I wanted,” Modi said, addressing people in Bharuch via a video link.
“He regularly opposes us politically, but I respect him. He was of the opinion that if one becomes prime minister twice then he has achieved everything. But he doesn’t know that Modi is made of different mettle. Gujarat has moulded him. That’s why I do not believe in taking it easy, like whatever has happened has happened and now I should rest. No. My dream is saturation, 100% coverage of the welfare schemes,” he said.
Modi did not name the leader in his remarks, which came a month after NCP chief Sharad Pawar met him in Delhi and raised the issue of the central agencies’ action against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and family members of Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar. tnn
