You’re one of the fittest actors we have in the industry. How important do you think is the concept of fitness in today’s time?
I feel fitness is as important as living and breathing. A lot of people take fitness to another level. People go on a fat-loss spree, not being aware that fats are also equally essential, especially for women. Then there is crash diet which is also very dangerous. In this industry, women are expected to look lean all the time and they have to go through a lot of things. I have gone through that myself. And it’s terrible. It’s terrible both for your mental and physical health. I feel like it’s so important for us to be careful about these things. There are many gyms and nutritionists who can guide you to be fit in the right way and one should resort to them instead of blindly following the trend.Who do you admire the most in Bollywood when it comes to health and fitness?
I think Shilpa Shetty is quite fit. Most of the actresses are quite fit these days and they are very aware and conscious of their fitness. But some of them really go to extremes and they do all kinds of diets to have no fat at all in their body. And I don’t think that’s cool. I think a woman needs to look like a woman and mental health is also very important. And also they need to feel happy and happiness also is a fitness muscle that you need to actually build and fuel it. Food plays a big part in that process.

Would you pick comfort over fashion or do you believe in keeping up with the trends?
Well, I always like to create my own trends. I am not somebody who keeps up with trends because I don’t even watch that much news or anything. I invest a lot of time and energy into knowing myself. I just get what fits me, what suits me and create my own style. I am grateful to have this kind of knowledge to be able to put things together because it does require a lot of time and effort and energy and talent. So I am grateful that I have that. I would any day choose comfort over trend because to me, being comfortable in whatever you’re wearing is very important.
